Built as early as the first millennium, a vast number still exist, waiting to be explored. While some have been left untouched and are now engulfed in jungle, others are lovingly preserved as magnificent spectacles of Cambodia's past.
The Angkor Discovery tour has been specifically tailored to let you witness this country's unique cultural heritage in a leisurely and comfortable fashion that ensures nothing of interest is missed. In the space of four days, you will get to see Cambodia's most spectacular historical sights whilst staying in the region's finest hotels.
Starting with the early Angkor era temples dating to 893 AD you will get to witness the earliest traces of Cambodia's historic religious culture before a trip to the majestic walled city of Angkor Thom. Entering its impressive stone gates and seeing the exuberant carvings all around is one of the finest experiences in the region.
Perhaps one of the most spectacular temples in the world, Angkor Wat is the next destination. Constructed in the early 12th century, it is considered a masterpiece of Khmer architecture. Inside, the walls are covered with carvings and bas-reliefs depicting Hindu mythology, and over 2000 Apsaras Dancers decorate the temple.
Next, one of the oldest temples, dating back to 967 AD, is also one of the most beautiful. The intricate detailing that surrounds Banteay Srey's walls is a magnificent spectacle that has been preserved in near perfect condition.
Your last day will include a small craft tour of Tonlé Sap, a vast lake created each rainy season when the Tonlé River reverses flow, flooding thousands of acres of farmland. You’ll experience a unique lifestyle entirely adapted to water as you glide through floating hamlets and villages built on stilts. After a last opportunity to purchase finely crafted handicrafts at an art school, you’ll leave the fabled Khmer kingdom.
Discover Siem Reap, gateway to the magnificent Angkor temple complex, while staying at the Victoria Angkor Hotel, located next to the king's residence and just minutes from the temples.
With its dramatic silhouette and crown of towering stone pinnacles, Angkor Wat is one of the most famous and recognizable monuments in the world. Yet, as extraordinary as it is, on this special four-day tour you'll soon see that there is so much more to Angkor than just Angkor Wat. Built during the golden age of the Khmer Empire, Angkor was at one time the heart of the most powerful and advanced civilization in Southeast Asia. Abandoned in the 15th century, Angkor was quickly enveloped by the jungle, its stone halls and shaded shrines remaining only as a site of pilgrimage.
Step away from the ordinary and in to the extraordinary with this trekking adventure through the Temples of Angkor. Be prepared to be overwhelmed by the kaleidoscope of history, natural beauty, and culture of Cambodia as you traverse the countryside on foot. Your trek begins from the charming town of Siem Reap. Head out to the Rolous group temples where crumbling towers remain from the 8th and 9th century. Cross through the countryside, along dirt paths, to Phnom Bok and your campsite for the evening
