A former guesthouse of King Sihanouk designed by French architect Laurent Mondet, this classic sixties structure has been converted into a calm oasis on the outskirts of bustling Siem Reap.
The tranquil property offers a multitude of relaxing opportunities within its private garden enclave including a sultry curved slate swimming pool and fine cuisine is available in a dramatic setting at The Dining Room, previously the screening room of King Sihanouk.
The 24 suites are decorated in a classic Indochinese palette of cool grey, pristine white, dark timber and ivory with private courtyards and soothing water features, and 12 feature private swimming pools.
The Roof Garden offers pre-dinner drinks in the evening and invigorating yoga sessions at dawn, and the hotel's spa features traditional Cambodian treatments and a range of soothing organic products.
Cambodia is a country steeped in an ancient history based around the Khmer Empire, once the largest empire in South East Asia. Angkor was the region of Cambodia that served as the seat of the empire during its heyday (approximately the 9th century to the 15th century A.D.). The temples of the Angkor area numbered over 1000, and today many of them still remain, but in wide range of scales and forms.
With its dramatic silhouette and crown of towering stone pinnacles, Angkor Wat is one of the most famous and recognizable monuments in the world. Yet, as extraordinary as it is, on this special four-day tour you'll soon see that there is so much more to Angkor than just Angkor Wat. Built during the golden age of the Khmer Empire, Angkor was at one time the heart of the most powerful and advanced civilization in Southeast Asia. Abandoned in the 15th century, Angkor was quickly enveloped by the jungle, its stone halls and shaded shrines remaining only as a site of pilgrimage.
Built as a tribute to the fascinating architecture of the Angkor era, La Residence d'Angkor is a deluxe boutique hotel with an intimate Khmer-style set peacefully within a leafy walled garden in Siem Reap, gateway to the majestic region of the temples of Angkor.
